¿Qué es una Dirección IP?

An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numerical label assigned to every device connected to a network. It serves two purposes: identifying the host and providing the location for routing. IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses (e.g., 192.168.1.1) while IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses (e.g., 2001:db8::1) to accommodate the growing number of devices.

IP addresses are assigned by IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) to Regional Internet Registries, which allocate them to ISPs and organizations. Devices receive IP addresses either statically (manually configured) or dynamically via DHCP. Routers use IP addresses to forward packets toward their destination.
